Does the need for a Stimulus Package outweigh cost
What do you think about the Stimulus Package that was recently passed by Congress. It took a bit of time to get passage of a bill that would benefit America and Americans in the pursuit a stronger America. The different factions of Congress disagreed on several key components of the package. The writer thinks the need for the stimulus package in it's strongest form is best for this Country and its citizens. The Schools need rebuilding, The highway super structure needs drastic repairs. The Automobile industry needs to be allowed to get on its feet again. The American Citizen needs to save the home in which they live. The mortgage needs to be a level which will sustain the mortgage holder's ability to continue to pay for his home so the family can maintain some sort of normality in the every day struggle of survival. Is this too much too ask? What do you think?

What do I think, you ask. about the stimulus package that just passed? I think that you nor I can give a good answer to that question I.E. one that will appraise the good or bad that it will do? And the economists will have a field day criticizing or praising the package but they really won`t furnish a good appraisal either. It passed. The congress did SOMETHING--which is may be better than what we did in 1930 simply because it was an ACTION. If you believe as I do that the Americans now alive will not stand for inaction in this financial eruption you will better be able to understand my position. If you do not feel the anger boilng underneath all this turbulence, you are in denial of the possible consequences. I was there in 1930 and I saw the people in awe but not yet angry. I was seven years old and went on the road in our 1924 Hudson with my family to pick crops and work in canneries after my father lost his business, and we lived in that car for a time. My father was not to blame for our financial condition. But he wasn`t angry. The American citizen is no longer so tame and will not react in the way we did then.
The Republicans just demonstrated Their attitude in this crisis and this is surely noted. Luckily we don`t have Hoover in power but he would have approved the act of disapproval of that Republican caucus. We saw ACTION. We must hope that it does for us something of the things you suggested.
